Clothed in Christ

This week, we wrap up our series titled, "In Christ", a study through the book of Ephesians. As Paul closes out his letter to the church of Ephesus, he reminds them of the reality that they are in the middle of a spiritual war. While this is important for us to be reminded of, we should also be mindful of who the enemy is not. We are first and foremost instructed to stand, as we are to hold the ground that Jesus already won. To do this, we share the same weapons Jesus has at his disposal, the Word of God and prayer to connect to God for His deliverance and power. Furthermore, we are to put on the armor of God, which is ultimately a call to put on Christ Himself and live in the new identity Paul describes to us.

Obedience in Christ

This week, we continue our series titled, "In Christ", a study through the book of Ephesians. Paul addresses addresses authority and power dynamics as shown through the relationship between parents with children and slaves and masters. Both the ones under authority and in authority are ultimately accountable to Jesus Christ, who holds absolute power without corruption. Children are to obey and honor their parents, while parents are called to bridle their authority and raise their children in the training and instruction of the Lord. Similarly, employees are to serve their human masters as they would Christ, while masters must treat those under them justly, remembering that God shows no favorites.

Marriage in Christ

In Ephesians 5:21–33, we learn that marriage is a sacred reflection of Christ’s relationship with His church. God designed marriage as a covenant between one man and one woman — a promise of future love, not a contract of convenience. We’re called to reorder our priorities (“leave and cleave”), pursuing oneness and holiness as God uses our marriage to make us more like Jesus. Though sin distorts our unity and makes companionship difficult, the Spirit empowers us to love sacrificially and submit mutually. When we put each other’s needs above our own, we model the gospel. Even when our spouse fails, we draw from Christ’s perfect love — the power that sustains and renews our covenant. Marriage isn’t ultimately about our happiness but our holiness, and as we stay filled with the Spirit, our homes can become living pictures of Christ and His church.

Our Walk in Christ

We were once darkness, but now we are light in the Lord, and therefore we are called to walk as children of light in a dark and broken world. The light of Christ has filled us, not so we can argue against darkness from a distance, but so that His presence through us can expose evil and draw others to Him. Walking in the light means bearing the fruit of goodness, righteousness, and truth—living wisely, filled with the Spirit, and loving both God and neighbor through worship, gratitude, and mutual submission. As we walk wisely, empowered by the Spirit, our lives become a living testimony that reveals the beauty and power of Jesus to a world still lost in darkness

Renewed in Christ

In Ephesians 4:17–5:5, we are reminded that life in Christ means being renewed from the inside out. We no longer live as the world does, shaped by its empty ways, but are transformed by the Holy Spirit working in us. Our power for renewal comes not from discipline or fear but from the Spirit’s indwelling presence. Our motivation is love—because we are dearly loved children of God—and our process is repentance: putting off the old self and putting on the new. As those who have been adopted and redeemed, we now live differently—truthful in speech, slow to anger, generous in work, gracious in words, and forgiving in relationships. We walk in love, imitating Christ who gave Himself for us, so that our lives together display His renewing power to the world.

With these renewed hearts, we all unify into one new body on a mission with one shared calling. We can all exercise our unique gifts and places that God has put us in order to serve others and proclaim the gospel.

The Love of God in Christ

This week, we continue our series titled, "In Christ", a study through the book of Ephesians. While we might call ourselves Christians, those in the early church preferred to identify themselves as being "In Christ'. Their hope was that what is true of Jesus would become true of themselves. The foundation of the spiritual walk begins with the security of the gift we receive and the opportunity to belong. From there, we walk with Christ and yield to His spirit, allowing it to work in our lives. This work allows us to develop a Christ-like love and truly experience the depth of His love for us.
