When Jesus offends you

In Mark 6:1–6, Jesus returns to His hometown of Nazareth, where those who knew Him best take offense at Him. They cannot see beyond the familiar carpenter’s son to recognize the Messiah standing before them. Their unbelief blinds them to His power, and as a result, Jesus does few miracles there.

This passage reveals a hard truth: sometimes the greatest barrier to receiving from Jesus is our own offense. When His words challenge our assumptions, when His ways don’t fit our expectations, we can either cling to our pride or humble ourselves in faith.

This message calls us to confront the places where we’ve become offended at Jesus — to lay down our assumptions and rediscover awe, so we can experience the fullness of His power and presence.
