Responding to Jesus

As Jesus approaches the cross, the contrast of hearts around Him becomes striking. The religious leaders plot His death, driven by fear and jealousy. Judas Iscariot quietly arranges to betray Him for a handful of silver. And in the middle of this darkness, a woman breaks an alabaster jar and pours out expensive perfume on Jesus, an act of extravagant love that others criticize as wasteful. Jesus defends her, declaring that her devotion will be remembered wherever the gospel is preached. This scene reveals that proximity to Jesus does not guarantee devotion to Him—true disciples respond not with calculation, but with wholehearted worship.
