Moralism & Liberalism vs. Jesus

In Mark 2:18–3:6, Jesus is confronted by religious leaders over fasting, Sabbath-keeping, and healing — three flashpoints that reveal the clash between man-made religion and the heart of God. While the Pharisees cling to moralism and others slide into empty liberalism, Jesus charts a different path: the way of grace and new life.

He teaches that His presence changes everything — old wineskins can’t contain the new wine of the Kingdom. He shows that the Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath, and that doing good outweighs rigid rule-keeping. This message exposes the danger of both moralistic pride and permissive compromise, calling us instead to walk closely with Jesus, who fulfills the law and gives life.

Jesus doesn’t fit into our religious categories — He transforms them.
