When He’s ‘Just Jesus’

In Mark 3, Jesus returns to His hometown, and the people who watched Him grow up can’t see beyond their familiarity. They reduce the Son of God to “just Jesus” — the carpenter’s son, Mary’s boy, someone ordinary. Their unbelief becomes a barrier that limits what they can receive from Him.

This message confronts the danger of overfamiliarity. When we lose our awe of Jesus, we risk missing His power and presence in our lives. Familiarity can breed contempt, but faith revives wonder.

Jesus is not “just” anything — He is Lord, Savior, and King. To walk with Him, we must rediscover awe, surrender our assumptions, and open our hearts to the miraculous work He wants to do.
