From the Mountain to the Valley

In Mark 9:14–32, Jesus and three of His disciples descend from the mount of transfiguration, where they had just witnessed His divine glory, and return to the valley — straight into chaos, doubt, and human need. The remaining disciples are unable to cast out a demon from a tormented boy, and the crowd is full of confusion and arguments.

Jesus steps into the scene with authority, compassion, and patience. He delivers the boy, rebukes the spirit, and teaches that such breakthroughs come only through prayer and dependence on God. He then begins to prepare His disciples for His coming suffering and death, revealing that true glory is not about staying on the mountaintop but following Him through the valley.

This message reminds us that the Christian life isn’t lived only in moments of spiritual highs. We must carry the revelation of Jesus’ glory into the messy valleys of everyday life, walking by faith and relying on God’s power when we face chaos, pain, or failure.
