A Marriage Talk, p1

In Mark 10:1–12, Jesus is confronted by the Pharisees with a question about divorce, hoping to trap Him in controversy. Instead of joining their debate, Jesus redirects the conversation to God’s original design for marriage. He quotes Genesis, affirming that from the beginning, God created humanity as male and female and joined husband and wife as “one flesh” in a covenant meant to reflect His faithfulness and love.

Jesus emphasizes that marriage is not merely a legal contract that can be dissolved at will, but a sacred covenant where two lives are joined by God Himself. He exposes how hard hearts distort God’s intent and reminds His followers that love, unity, and lifelong faithfulness are at the heart of marriage.

This message calls us to see marriage not through the lens of culture or convenience, but through the lens of God’s kingdom — as a covenant of love, service, and commitment that mirrors His relationship with His people.
