Mary’s Love
In this third message of our Advent 2024 series Characters of Christmas, we turn to Mary’s story in Luke 1:26–38. When the angel Gabriel appeared to Mary with the news that she would bear the Son of God, her life was changed forever. Though she was young, uncertain, and surely overwhelmed, Mary responded with trust and devotion: “Let it be to me according to your word.”
Mary’s love was not sentimental—it was courageous, self-giving, and rooted in her faith in God’s promises. Her example challenges us to live with that same surrendered love, offering ourselves fully to the Lord even when the path is unknown.
This Advent, as we reflect on Mary’s love, we’re reminded that God chooses ordinary people to carry out His extraordinary plan, and His love is made perfect through willing hearts.
