The Shepherds Joy
IIn this final message of our Advent 2024 series Characters of Christmas, we turn to the shepherds in Luke 2:8–20. Ordinary men, watching their flocks at night, were suddenly met with the glory of heaven as angels announced the birth of the Savior. Terrified at first, their fear gave way to overwhelming joy as they hurried to Bethlehem and became the first to share the good news.
The shepherds remind us that the message of Christmas is for everyone—not just the powerful or the privileged, but for the lowly and overlooked. Their joy came not from comfort or status, but from encountering Jesus and spreading the word of His arrival.
This Advent, as we reflect on the shepherds’ joy, we’re invited to rediscover the wonder of Christ’s birth and to share that same good news with others.Hear More from the Characters of Christmas Advent Series
