The Pathway to Happiness
In this opening message of our series Longing for the Savior: A Study in the Psalms, we turn to Psalm 1, which lays out two contrasting ways of life: the path of the righteous and the path of the wicked. True happiness, the psalmist reminds us, is not found in worldly success or fleeting pleasures but in delighting in the law of the Lord and meditating on it day and night.
Psalm 1 paints a picture of the flourishing life—like a tree planted by streams of water, bearing fruit in season and sustained by God’s Word. It also offers a sobering reminder that the way of the wicked leads only to emptiness and ruin.
As we begin this journey through the psalms, this passage invites us to examine our lives and choose the path that leads to lasting joy in God’s presence.
