As the early church grew, real needs arose within the community. The apostles recognized that meeting every need could not come at the expense of their primary calling: prayer, the ministry of the Word, and making disciples. Acts 6 shows us how the church can care for people while staying faithful to the mission Jesus has given us.

God’s grace creates a church marked by unity, generous love, and bold Gospel proclamation, but we’re also reminded that God’s grace is not cheap. He is holy, and He takes sin seriously. Grace is generous, but grace is also severe.

When humanity’s powerless state encounters Jesus’ transformed people who carry His transforming power, something beautiful happens. Acts 3 reminds us that the church is called to embody the compassion, grace, and power of Jesus in a world longing for restoration.

What does a life transformed by Jesus actually look like? In Acts 2:40–47, we see the first church devoted to the apostles’ teaching, fellowship, worship, and the mission of God. As we behold the beauty of Christ and His grace, the Holy Spirit shapes us into a people who continue Jesus’ work in the world.

Peter’s sermon at Pentecost reminds us that the story of Jesus changes every story. Through the power of the Holy Spirit and a heart of repentance, Jesus continues transforming His people. Through Christ we will see the goodness of His love and mercy.

Pentecost was not just a powerful moment in the early church it was the continuation of God’s greater story. From Creation, to Christ, to the birth of the Church, the Holy Spirit has been at work bringing life, revealing God’s presence, and empowering ordinary people for His mission.
