The Son Stood Still

In Mark 10:46–52, Jesus and His disciples are leaving Jericho when a blind beggar named Bartimaeus cries out for mercy. Despite being rebuked by the crowd, he cries out even louder, calling Jesus the “Son of David.” In that moment, Jesus does something extraordinary — He stops. The Son of God, on His way to Jerusalem and the cross, stands still for one desperate man on the roadside.

Jesus calls Bartimaeus to Himself, asking, “What do you want Me to do for you?” Bartimaeus responds in faith, asking to see, and Jesus restores his sight. Immediately, Bartimaeus follows Jesus on the road.

This passage shows the heart of our Savior who notices the unseen, hears the cries of the desperate, and stops to bring healing and restoration. It calls us to cry out to Jesus in faith and to follow Him with renewed vision and wholehearted devotion.
