A Seat at the Table

In Mark 7:24–30, Jesus travels to the region of Tyre, where a Syrophoenician woman pleads with Him to heal her demon-possessed daughter. At first, Jesus responds with a challenging statement about the children’s bread not being for the dogs, but the woman humbly and persistently replies that even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from the table.

Rather than pushing her away, Jesus draws out her faith — and commends her for it. This powerful encounter shows that God’s kingdom is not limited by ethnicity, background, or status. His table has room for all who come to Him in faith and humility.

This message reminds us that what qualifies us to receive from Jesus is not our worthiness but our faith, and that His mercy reaches those who dare to believe they have a place at His table.
